Yoga has been an integral part of my life since I was a child. Yoga - a way of life - was passed down to me through my
mother, a yoga teacher herself, from her Persian-Indian father.
I founded North Devon Yoga in 2009.
I am a Yoga Alliance UK registered teacher and additionally hold a Sivananda Yoga Diploma. I have a postgraduate teacher training with US school of yoga therapy, LifeForce Yoga, with specific focus on yoga for mental well-being. I began learning yoga as a child and was first taught meditation practice at an ashram in Ganeshpuri, India when I was 10 and as I grew older I began to explore the sanctuary of yoga more deeply, including Siddha Yoga, with its strong focus on meditation practice. I studied Vipassana meditation in South East Asia and worked at the North West London Psychotherapy Centre from 2000-2003. I am currently furthering my professional development and yoga training with The British Wheel of Yoga diploma training at the The Life Centre and Yoga Campus in London.
I have worked in healthcare or over 10 years and am now developing my interest in evidence-based clinical applications of yoga and yoga therapy. I write and edit integrated medical material for patients and am currently the Editor of The Self Care Library, an online patient resource covering a range of common medical conditions. My academic studies include Positive Psychology and Mindfulness Meditation at Harvard and Brown University in the USA and have a postgraduate degree in Human Ecology. I have taught yoga in a variety of therapuetic and clinical settings including rehabilitation and medical centres.
